Summer Safety

With summer about to kick off, we want to remind you that the Red Cross is not only here to provide help and relief when severe weather strikes, we are also here to help people prepare for other emergencies, from a swimming emergency to a heart attack to heat related emergencies

Water Safety

It is important to be safe in, on, and around the water . Swimmers of all ages and abilities can develop their swimming and water safety skills by contacting the Southeast Lousiana Chapter Red Cross.  Last year, we trained over 800 new lifeguards, 88 new water safety instructors and offered free swimming lessons to over 1500 children.

Lifeguard Training

Each year, the American Red Cross instructors teach more than 2 million people to swim and train approximately 200,000 lifeguards, which accounts for 90% of the lifeguard workforce nationwide.

CPR/AED

If you have interest in responding to emergency situations and learning skills that can save lives, the American Red Cross offers you the most current, comprehensive and high quality First Aid and CPR/AED training available.

On June 5th, the Red Cross will be hosting Super CPR Saturday.  This course provides instruction in rescue breathing, choking, and cardiac emergency skills.  To register for this class please contact Gabrielle Flemings @ 504-620-2855.

Babysitting

The 6˝ hour babysitter’s training course gives 11 to 15 year olds the skills and confidence to safely and responsibly care for children and infants, through hands-on activities, interactive video and lively discussions.
