Preparedness:

The key to any disaster or emergency situation is to be Red Cross Ready.  Having your plans and supplies in order will help to eliminate some of the worry and will help to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones.

There are three main steps to being Red Cross Ready:

1.  Make a Plan

2.  Build a Kit

3.  Stay Informed

Make a Plan

Have a plan for you and your family.  If an evacuation is ordered, know where you will go and how you will get there.

Know the plan of those close to you.

Make sure those close to you know your plan.

Have a personal communications plan to stay in touch:   Have two (2) OUT OF STATE contacts for you and your family to check in with if separated.

Build a Kit

Your kit should contain supplies for 7-10 days.  This includes:

all medications taken by you or your family members.

copies of all prescriptions and insurance information

any food needed for special dietary concerns

weather radio

flashlight

batteries

personal hygiene supplies

water (it is estimated that each person needs one (1) gallon of water each day.

important papers and bills

cash
